Hello Everyone!
We’re back! Several of us, Leah Wallace, Bryan Cleeton, Tim Howell, and Tim and
Debbie Steinhauser, had the opportunity to attend the Central District Youth
Retreat this weekend. Former LITES student, Jordan Schlenker also made the long
trip down from North Dakota. The theme for the camp was “Overboard”. Pastor Tim
Steinhauser spoke Friday evening and Sabbath morning about our need to be
listening for God’s word to give us direction as it did to the prophet
Jonah. He also spoke about extending grace to others just as we have received
grace from the Lord. We were able to make many new friends and were very blessed
to have been a part of this year’s camp.
Have you ever wondered what kind of attitude it takes to be like Jesus? Andrew
Murray’s book, “Humility” is the topic of our newest class. It discusses how
key humility is to our walk with God. Like Jesus, we must empty ourselves of our
own pursuits, so that He can become “all in all” in every aspect of our lives.
We have also been reading in Numbers, Deuteronomy, and Luke for our Bible class.
We’ve had the opportunity to participate in several different service projects.
The LITES team traveled to Maryville to work at a women’s shelter. It was
exiting to see the new facilities they are completing that will house up to 20
women. The remainder of our time was spent moving furniture for a woman who had
finished her stay and was moving into a house nearby. We learned a lot and hope
to come back later this school year. We also had the opportunity to visit Sister
Nancy Larson. There is always something new and interesting to learn about
Nancy, and we enjoyed our visit very much. Also, to show our appreciation for
the work of our church board members, we went shopping and put together several
different gift baskets that were presented to them during the Sabbath morning
worship service.
Remember, if you are following along with our Bible reading schedule feel free
