This weekend marked the showing of the movie, “No Greater Love” at the Stanberry
church. It was great to see everyone working together to prepare for the event.
A children’s program was organized for the kids, and the youth helped with
popcorn and drinks. We were also glad to have a number of friends and visitors
come who do not normally attend church. Altogether, it was an enjoyable and
memorable experience. Also, coming up in three weeks, several of us will be
attending the wedding of former LITES student, Caleb Cortez and Christina Golden
in San Antonio, TX. We are really looking forward to going for this special
event.
TrueU is the name of a new video series we are going through for class. It
follows the Truth Project and is geared towards preparing college-bound youth
for the many conflicting worldviews they will face in college. Regardless of our
age, it seems critical that we understand why we believe what we believe,
especially when the world around us challenges all claims to absolute truth, and
so that we can take a stand for truth with and for others around us.
For service projects, we’ve had a number of extra opportunities to spend time
with several of the youth from church. Andrew and Bryan spent an afternoon with
Joseph Hutson and Levi West playing basketball, while Debbie, Leah, and Melissa
went out with Shalissa Hutson to Maryville. It’s been great to have more time
outside of church to do things together. Leah, Bryan, and Debbie also had the
opportunity to paint a small classroom next to the Sanctuary. Coming up, we’re
planning to paint the walls in the old publishing house area. The building
project is coming along well, and this will be a big step in finishing the work
that remains to be done.
